The Radio Shack EC-421 is likely to be an OEM
version of another brand’ calculator but I haven’t as
of yet found out which one. Reverse image searching does not help.
It is an 8-digit calculator with a 9-digit fluorescent display. It has a sturdy case that is very nice to hold. It has the four basic functions, percentages, the square root and some nice extras:
The leftmost digit is also used to indicate negative values and a non-zero value in memory, shown as an upside down "u" using the three top segments. When there is both a non-zero value in memory and a negative number on display this turns into a small "o". Combine that with an error and the resulting symbol looks like the mirror image of a "9". So, just for fun, to light up all segments but one simply enter 88888888 and type +/- M+ × 1 0 =. When I obtained this calculator it still had its plastic protective foil, which I had to remove to make a scan. |
